Stimulating the economy

Monday, 12 May 2008 21:11 by sara

I am a good American.  Over the past week or so, I've been thinking about how I can use my stimulus check to help the economy.  I'm willing to do so, even if a certain frugal man thinks said money should be safely put into a "lock box" for our future.  Today begins a special series on "Shopping For The Sake Of America."

Start with something to treat yourself.

Pink marshmallow foaming sugar body polish, it sounds so yummy. Top it off with Lemon Sugar Whipped Body Frosting, both from Cozy Moments.

Fresh, handcrafted soap delivered to your door every month for a year. Every month you can scrub clean, knowing that you helped the economy.

I've never actually purchased a quilt for myself.  Most of the ones I have were made by relatives, either specifically for my husband and me (or our girls) or for someone who came before me.  I've been admiring the quilts by Carolina Patchwork, though, and I love this Pink Squares Patchwork quilt.  I was also a big fan of the Red Floral Retro Swell Quilt, but it sold right after I discovered it.

A pretty new dress to wear as you do your stimulus shopping.

I guess I never really thought of it that way. I thought maybe I owed it to my family to spend that money on bills. It seemed like the only responsible thing to do with the money. You're right, it would be best of I spend the money on something fun. This way, I'm not just helping my family but all the families in the neighborhood.

If these rebate checks are spent at a retail counter, the ripple effect will be far greater than if this money just goes to make some credit card company richer. Can you help me with some ideas of what I can do for myself, my wife Heather, and our little Annie?

PS Love the web site look and feel. I wish I had a pretty web page too. Visit it anyway at www.customtrucks.net. We're collecting money to send textbooks to needy people. See my blog "Tears On My Pillow".
