Every Thursday will henceforth become "Throwback Thursday," featuring a tutorial from the archives (others' archives, not my own...at least not yet). The Blogosphere is so full of great tutorial, with new ones popping up everyday. Throwback Thursday is an opportunity to remember some of the great projects that either (1) we never got a chance to make before the next great project came along or (2) we'd forgotten how much we loved and should really, really make another.
This week, Super Easy Keychains from Creative Little Daisy.

These really do look pretty easy, and they'd be a great way to use little pieces of pretty ribbon. It's also a great excuse to buy ribbon, like this:

I've actually gone a little crazy over ribbon lately. There are so many pretty choices, but it seems like I never really have an opportunity to use it. I've resolved to start embellishing my projects a bit more, so that I can take advantage of the pretty trims that are out there. The trim selection at my local fabric store is pretty dull. They cover the basic colors, but there's really nothing to get excited about.
The Ribbon Jar, though, is a different matter:
Remember grab bags? When I was a kid, I loved the mystery and thrill of the grab bag! There was that whole belief that your grab bag might actually contain some sort of treasure that no one expected. Serious anticipation. Nowadays, I generally dismiss the grab bag as an attempt to unload junk that no one would buy if they could actually see it. Like the E-Bay mystery box. Seriously? I just can't imagine.
Well, The Ribbon Jar sells a sort of grab bag jar. Except, it's themed, and you can see into the jar, and you're guaranteed at least a certain yardage of ribbon/trim in a particular color theme, each at least one yard long.
Each month there's a new jar, and each year there's a different theme. This year the jars are nature themed. The April jar (pictured above) was an ocean jar, while the May jar is filled with rainforest colors. Think of the keychains you could make with all that ribbon!
